Back To School Block Party in Sugar Hill

How We Helped Students Gear Up for the School Year in Sugar Hill, GA

Back-to-school prep isn’t just about pencils and paper. It’s about pouring love, confidence, and joy into our youth before they return to the classroom. This year, Revilo Gives partnered with The Curl Bar Salon in Sugar Hill, Georgia to host an unforgettable back-to-school event that combined resources, fun, and community spirit and it was a major success!

Giving with Purpose

We started the day by distributing hygiene kits and school supplies to students of all ages. Each kit was filled with everyday essentials from deodorant to toothbrushes and the school supplies included everything from notebooks and folders to crayons and pens. These simple items can make a huge impact on a student's confidence and readiness.

Fresh Looks, Fresh Starts

Our founder, Contressa Oliver, offered free back-to-school haircuts on-site. For many families, a fresh haircut can be a financial stress , so we stepped in to make sure students returned to school looking and feeling their best.

Fun, Food & Community

But we didn’t stop at giving, we celebrated!
The event also featured:

  • A live DJ bringing energy and good vibes

  • A snow cone truck to beat the Georgia heat

  • Hot dogs and hamburgers served up with love

  • Bouncy houses for the kids to jump, laugh, and play

It wasn’t just a giveaway. It was a block party with a purpose.

Why It Matters

This event wasn't only about handing out supplies. It was about empowering students, uplifting families, and reminding our community that they are supported and seen. With every bag, every haircut, every snow cone. We were investing in their future.

We’re so thankful to The Curl Bar Salon, our volunteers, and all who donated to make this day unforgettable.

At Revilo Gives, we understand that literacy is power and every child deserves access to books that inspire, educate, and ignite imagination. That’s why, during Literacy Week, we launched a special initiative to collect and donate books to help strengthen classroom libraries in local elementary schools.

The response from our community was heartwarming. Friends, families, supporters, and even strangers came together to donate gently used and brand-new books for children of all ages. From colorful picture books to early chapter books, our goal was to put stories directly into the hands of students who need them most.

Once collected, we hand-delivered these books to several elementary schools across Gwinnett County. The teachers were beyond grateful, and the smiles on the children’s faces reminded us that books can open doors to entire worlds, especially when those doors are right in the classroom.

Our mission with this project was simple: help teachers build stronger classroom libraries and give students more opportunities to read, dream, and grow. We believe every book donated is a seed planted for a brighter future.
